Advanced dentistry for dogs and cats Periodontal disease is a common health concern in cats and dogs. Routine dental exams are a part of our wellness exam. Dr. Hilden evaluates your pet’s mouth for tartar, swelling, and bleeding along the gumline. If a dental procedure is recommended for your pet, your Caring Ways Team will explain in detail what to expect and what options you have for caring for your pet. A dental procedure at Caring Ways includes full mouth digital dental radiographs, comprehensive oral exam, scaling and polishing, and extractions or bonded sealants if necessary. We can also arrange for a referral to a board-certified dental specialist if that is what’s needed.

All patients require pre-anesthetic blood work prior to anesthesia and older or immune-compromised patients may require additional diagnostics to ensure their safety and well-being during the procedure.

Prior to the day of the dental procedure, you will have received an email with your pre-surgery instructions and the treatment plan, outlining the costs of the procedure. You will have private check-in on the morning of your appointment to review the paperwork and answer any additional questions you may have.

Similarly to other anesthesia procedures, all dental procedures at Caring Ways are managed closely by our certified and licensed veterinary technician for your pet’s safety so you know your pet will receive the highest level of care before, during and after their procedure. We provide careful attention to your pet’s safety and comfort including warm blankets and a quiet, peaceful place for recovery. Pain management is an integral part of the surgical plan and will be discussed with you so that your pet can recover with as minimal pain as possible.

After your pet’s comprehensive dental procedure, your Caring Ways Team spends time reviewing after care instructions and any preventative care that would be best for your pet.
